Cheetah Print Shoes

I'm back! It was a pretty busy weekend and beginning of the week. I have a few things in the works now, so I should be back to posting pretty regularly. Today, I'm going to tell you of a great deal I found. Being on Pinterest, I've seen lots of different styling options that use cheetah print shoes. I haven't really been into the animal print trend...until I saw how cute some of these outfits looked with that pop of cheetah print.

So, I was super happy to happen upon a pair of budget friendly cheetah shoes at Target.

Shoe Clips

If you're like me then you love shoes. And if you're like me then you have a limited budget and limited closet space to maintain that love. I found this inspiration on Pinterest that will help you to change up your shoes a little bit. It'll be like multiplying your shoes without having to worry where to put them all!

Supplies

• Ribbon
• Hot glue
• Bobby pins
• Flower/Brooch (optional)

First, take your ribbon and cut it. I cut mine to about 6 inches. Also cut two pieces about 3 inches. It depends on how big you want your bow. If your ribbon frays, you will need to take a lighter to the ends. 

 Fold your ribbon and hold it in place with hot glue.

Take your 3 inch pieces and wrap it around the middle to look like the middle of the bow.

Flip it over and hot glue a bobby pin to the bottom.

Slip the top of your shoes into the bobby pin and voila! It looks like a brand new pair of shoes!  You can add a fabric flower or a brooch. The possibilities of additions, colors and patterns are endless. And cheap too!

Glitter Shoes

This project was a lot of fun. So fun in fact, I made two pair! I've been seeing glitter shoes everywhere. They are a fun, flirty addition to an outfit. I'm in love with teals and aquas....so, when I saw this tutorial on Pinterest, I knew my glitter shoes had to be teal!

Supplies

• Glitter (about 2 oz...maybe a little more)
• Mod Podge (about 2 oz)
• Sponge Brush
• Clear coat spray
• Pair of shoes

If your shoes are made of  slicker material, you may want to buff them a bit with sandpaper or a file so the Mod Podge adheres well. 


Then, mix your Mod Podge and glitter in a bowl or cup. Make sure you mix it very well! 


If your shoes have a noticeable sole, cover it with masking tape to prevent it from getting glitter on it. 

Now, start coating the Mod Podge and Glitter mix on. It looks weird but as you add coats, it starts to look better. Be sure to let the Mod Podge dry in between each coat. Took about 20-25 minutes to dry.

I had to do about 4 coats on each shoe. After the 4th coat dried, I sprayed mine with a healthy coat of clear gloss spray.


I love these shoes! I already had the shoes, so, this project was definitely on the cheap. I'm so excited to wear them! 

Painted Shoes

This project was a blast! It's really easy to do and you get a new pair of shoes out of shoes you already have!

Supplies

• Pair of Shoes
• Primer Paint
• Acrylic Paint
• File or Sand Paper
• Paint Brush
• Clear gloss sealer

First, lightly file or sand your shoes. This helps rough them up so the paint sticks better.

Next, paint the shoes with the primer and let dry.

Now, paint your shoes in the acrylic paint of your choice. I choose the color Laguna. I had to do a couple of coats.

After the last coats of paint dries, draw your design on the shoe with a pencil.

Then, paint your design with a different color of acrylic paint.

After that color dries, spray with the clear gloss sealer.

Now you have a new pair of shoes without having to leave your closet! 

Mod Podge Flats

I love flat shoes. I've never been one to enjoy wearing a heel. Maybe it's my clumsy nature but 99% of the time I'm wearing flats. Ballet flats, Toms, boots.....those are my shoes of choice. So, when I saw this Pinterest pin a couple of weeks ago, I was intrigued. Imagine the possibilities!

Supplies

• Ballet flats
• Fabric (cut into two pieces to cover each shoe)
• Mod Podge
• Sponge brush
• Scissors
• Xacto knife

First, lay your fabric over your first shoe.

Now, trim the excess off. (Be sure to leave some extra).

Then, cut a slit from the back up the middle, almost to the curve in the opening of the shoe.

Mod Podge the toe of the shoe.

Carefully smooth out the fabric over the Mod Podged portion of the shoe.

Now, Mod Podge down one side of the shoe, stopping before you get to the back. Carefully smooth out the fabric. Now, repeat on the second side of the shoe.

For the back, cut a straight line up the fabric and trim the excess out of the inside of the shoe. Then, Mod Podge one side of the back down.

Then, do the same to the other side but leave a little bit to overlap the back portion.

Now, cut slits at the curve of the open.

Mod Podge the inside fabric down.

Take the Xacto knife and trim the rest of the excess fabric off the bottom of the shoe at the sole. This is the hard part. 

Now, add a healthy amount of Mod Podge to the entire shoe. 

Follow these steps on the second shoe. Let them dry and voila! Brand new shoes! (Almost). 

This was a bit time consuming. But it was fun. Now I have brand new purple shoes for only $3! I found the white flats on clearance at Walmart at $3. The fabric is from a shirt I had that I didn't wear anymore. They feel great and move nicely! :)
